Learning to
Crochet
During my SSP, I chose to learn how to Crochet in Dr. Gatti and Ms. Gold's Seminar. I wanted to learn to crochet because I wanted a creative outlet and to be able to make cool things!
Learning the Stitches
We started by learning the basic stitches of crochet: single, half-double, and double crochet. I also practiced working "in the round," by starting with a magic loop
Finding a Project
After practicing, I had to come up with a final project. I wanted something that would push me, but I could also finish in time. I decided on this tank top! It incorporates chains, single, half double, and double crochet stitches, as well as some new ones.
Learning the Pattern
To make the body of the top I had to learn to interpret the pattern. I found it helpful to look at the visual representation of the pattern and I practiced by making a test swatch
