WELCOME TO ELIZA COHEN'S SENIOR SPRING PROJECT 2025 PORTFOLIO
Connecting Generations
Isolation of Senior citizens is a widespread problem in our society. 1 in 3 senior citizens report that they have contact once a week or less with people outside their home. Senior isolation can be caused by a multitude of factors including health issues, lack of transportation, loss of spouses and friends, and reduced mobility. Isolation in turn leads to a decline in mental and physical health, since social interaction stimulates brain activity.

Connecting Generations is an initiative based on Sweet Readers. Connecting Generation is a program in which high schools students do art projects with senior citizens in memory care. The goal of this program is to use these art projects to brighten their day and provide conversation and mental stimulation.

Through Connecting Generations, I have been able to help fight isolation in senior populations by connecting them to young students and fostering intergenerational relationships. This infographic features Cecelia, Marvin, and Mary. Three seniors that I have connected with. They all have loved making art projects.
